Didcot Girls? School were crowned national champions with a 3-2 victory over Thomas Estley Community College in the ESFA Girls? Under 13 Schools Cup final at Chesterfield FC.
Mollie Dyer was Didcot?s heroine with a sparkling hat-trick as they raced into a three-goal lead at the Proact Stadium, before withstanding a fightback by their south Leicestershire opponents to lift the trophy.
Didcot got off to a flying start in front of a crowd of around 150, when Freeleigh Parnell crossed for Dyer to slot home in the second minute.
With wingers Holly Porter and Holly Springate causing havoc down the flanks, Didcot doubled their lead shortly afterwards.
Parnell was fouled in the penalty area, and Dyer?s spot-kick went in off the inside of the left-hand post for her second.
Thomas Estley came more into the game, but Didcot hit them on the break and a through ball saw Dyer race through the middle to complete her hat-trick.
Thomas Estley pulled a goal back when Libby Smith?s shot flew past keeper Molly Ripley.
And Didcot conceded again before half-time when Annya Lane fired a shot inside the far post.
Didcot regrouped at the break, and enjoyed the balance of play in the second half, with Parnell having the best chance only to be denied by keeper Emily Gurney as she raced through on goal.
When the final whistle blew, the players jumped on top of each other in sheer elation, before being presented with the trophy, while Dyer received the match ball for her hat-trick.
Headteacher Rachael Warwick said: ?I am exceptionally proud of the girls in the under 13 team and their coach, Miss (Leanne) Walker.
?It?s great to see the confidence with which girls get involved in traditionally ?boys? sports in an all-girl environment.
?The whole school community is proud and delighted that the under 13 team are now national champions.?
Des Williams, chairman of the Oxfordshire Schools? FA and secretary of the Vale of White Horse Schools? FA, was delighted to hear of Didcot?s success.
?It is a fantastic achievement by the girls,? he said. ?They have put both Oxfordshire and the Vale of White Horse firmly on the map from a girls? point of view.
?They have just shown how good girls' football is in Oxfordshire and the Vale of White Horse.?
