Golfers from optics and photonics organizations from around the world will enjoy a round of golf and fun when they take part in the WNY Optics/Photonics Golf Tournament at Shadow Pines in Penfield on Thursday. The annual tournament raises money for the Golisano Children's Hospital.
Registration starts at 9 a.m. with a 10 a.m. shotgun start. A dinner following the tournament will be at Shadow Pines.
WNY Optics/Photonics team has also committed to naming a room in the future children?s hospital. Tournament organizers, Diane and Ron Schulmerich, spent a total of 61 weeks in the children's hospital their daughter, Amanda. After being born a NICU baby, Amanda was later diagnosed with Ewing?s Sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer.
The tournament has raised more than $137,000 for the hospital since it began.
